Celebrate Independence Day at Ferguson Park in Shinnston, WV with a day full of excitement, patriotism, and summer fun. The city’s performance center will host an Independence Day Concert featuring the Shinnston Community Band and a fireworks display, on Friday, July 1 leading up to the Fourth of July holiday.

The highly touted summer event kicks off at 3:00 p.m. with rides and bounce houses, plus food options from Audia’s Restaurant food truck and Chik-Fil-A. All-day wristbands can be purchased for $12, but be sure to check the Shinnston News or The Exponent Telegram for a $2 off coupon. The city pool will also be open.

The pool and bounce houses will operate until the Shinnston Community Band concert starts at approximately 6:30 with an opening performance by Lincoln High School student Olivia Gianettino. The Shinnston Community Band, a volunteer orchestra with 70 members from across the state, will take the stage between 7:30 – 8:00 p.m. An impressive fireworks display will light up the Shinnston sky at the conclusion of the concert.

Shinnston Fire Department encourages attendees of the Independence Day Celebration to bring cleaning supplies, water, and non-perishable food items to support victims of the recent devastating floods that swept through southern West Virginia. They will have a trailer set up in Ferguson Park where donations can be left.

The local celebration has been an Fourth of July staple at Ferguson Park for many years and it typically draws a crowd of 3,000 people gathered to embrace America’s independence and community fellowship.
