The Greater Clarksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today that they have made available a free WiFi access point in the vicinity of the Harrison County Courthouse for Pokemon Go players. Pokemon Go, a location-based, augmented reality game for mobile devices, has become extremely popular since its release earlier this month.

Kathie Titus, executive director of the Clarksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau sees this influx in downtown foot traffic as a great opportunity.

“I saw this as a positive for our downtown with parents and children enjoying time together and combining it with learning about our historic landmarks,” said Titus. “I know how much data usage can be for those on a phone budget so we wanted to help.”

Both local families and families visiting from out of town have enjoyed exploring Clarksburg while trying to “catch ’em all!”

“We had a family from Kentucky in the office recently with two middle schoolers and they were so excited about all the Pokemons they collected downtown and walking around visiting our historic sites,” said Titus.

If you find yourself near the County Courthouse playing Pokemon and need to connect to WiFi, look for the wireless network “EXPLORE CLARKSBURG”. The password is “guest123” – must be all lowercase letters.

The CVB also extends their thanks to Frontier for bringing a new modem and setting it up for the community.
