On September 20, at the monthly board meeting of Clarksburg Uptown, WesBanco Marketing President, Allen Retton, and Wes Banco Business Development Manager, Marla Swentzel, presented Clarksburg Uptown with a check for $1,000. These funds will go toward a traffic island beautification at one of the main entrances to Clarksburg. The island (pictured below) is located at the intersection of Second and Pike Street, in front of the First United Methodist Church.

This island beautification is just one of several ideas Uptown has developed for Clarksburg. Last year the organization, in conjunction with the City of Clarksburg, erected signs designating the Central Business District. One sign is located by the Caperton Center on West Main Street. The other will be located by Elite Cleaners on Pike Street once the bridge renovation has been completed.

Currently, Clarksburg Uptown is working with a local landscaper to develop a plan and timeline for the beautification project. Uptown is hoping this project will be completed in early Spring 2017. The vision of Clarksburg Uptown is to revitalize the central business district and this is just one more step toward the fruition of this vision.

WesBanco is a valued member of Clarksburg Uptown and this donation reinforces their continued commitment to the community.
