Johnstown’s 60th Annual Community Fair and 12th Annual Car and Truck Show will be held this Saturday, September 12th. The fair will feature live entertainment, great food, prizes for all, and children’s attractions.
“I‘ve been going to car shows around WV since 2003,” said Billy Nutter II, a car show creator along with his wife, Ashley Nutter. “I thought it would be nice to have a car show in our community and help raise money.” The fair helps raise funds for maintaining property and purchasing supplies for the local 4-H, CEOs, and Lions Club.
The Car Show will be awarding prizes for Best of Show, Early Bird, Slow Poke, Top 40 and Top 10. A crowd favorite is the “Kelso Prize”, where the property owner picks his favorite car. In addition to these prizes, there will also be 50/50 raffles and door prizes featuring car supplies.
The country kitchen menu offers cook-out classics, including pork BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs, homemade pies and cake, coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad. The menu will be available from 11AM-6:45PM.
“My favorite parts of the day are looking at the different cars that come in and the pork BBQ sandwiches the Lions Club makes,” said Nutter.
Live music will be playing all day starting at noon by bands such as Blue Country, Jocelyn Stout, Gospel Harmony Boys, Grayson Samples, and Jim Forshey’s Salute to Elvis.
Thomas Family Amusements will provide the carnival attractions. In addition, a rock climbing wall, large inflatables, petting zoo, horse and wagon rides, and face painting will be offered. There will be a limited supply of free tickets for children.
Community groups such as Harrison County D.A.R.E, WV Division of Forestry, WV MADD and WV Governor’s Highway Safety will all have activities for the crowd.
The fair opens at 11AM and closes at 9PM and admission is free. “Members of the community should come to support the fair, have good food, and listen to bands all day,” said Nutter.
