Stonewall Resort State Park will offer free admission from 9 am-4pm on “Black Friday”, Nov. 25 in an effort to encourage family activity, exercise and usage of one of West Virginia’s most scenic, lakeside state parks, resort officials announced.
Samantha Norris, community outreach director at Stonewall Resort, said, “We’re all familiar with the ‘shop-till-you-drop’, chaotic atmosphere the day after Thanksgiving has taken on and we’d like to offer a fun, peaceful and unique alternative. Stonewall Resort State Park has 17-miles of trails that incorporate the area’s pre-Civil War history, gorgeous lake views and secluded forest. Hiking or biking the trails is a perfect way to work off Thanksgiving dinner and spend time with family and friends.”
Norris said the daily park fee of $5 will be waived for all visitors on Nov. 25. Park visitors will have access to Stonewall Resort and its various amenities, like Stillwaters Restaurant, the Christmas Shoppe and Gift Shop.
Additionally, the first 20 people to stop by the gift shop will receive their choice of a free Stonewall Resort patch or Stonewall Resort Hiking Stick medallion.
“We’re also asking visitors to take a selfie while on their hike or bike ride and post it on social media using the hashtag #GetOutsideWV or #StonewallResort,” Norris said. “Our goal is to expose more people to the outdoor wonders West Virginia offers and encourage more visitors to parks throughout the state.”
Norris said guests interested in biking should bring their own bikes.
