The United States Post Office located at 500 W. Pike Street was constructed between 1931-32 and opened in 1932 (the year this photo was taken). The three-story Neoclassical building is an excellent example of this architectural style that was very popular in public buildings from this period.

It was announced earlier this year that after 80 years at this location, the U.S. Postal Service plans to relocate to a smaller location in downtown Clarksburg that has yet to be determined.

The federal courthouse also located within the current post office building will not be moving.
