Are you ready to Test the Watters? The United Way of Harrison County is hosting the Test the Watters 5K/15K Trail Run, Harrison County’s first trail race, on Saturday, October 29 at 9:00 am. The event, benefiting the United Way, will be held at Watters Smith Memorial State Park in Lost Creek, WV.
The 15K course will be a single loop utilizing nearly every trail inside the park with aid stations every 3 to 4 miles. The 5K course covers trails Black Cherry, Fawn, Rachel Hershey, High Wall, and Dogwood, and has one aid station about 1.5 miles in. Both walkers and runners are welcome to participate in the 5K. After the races, participants are invited to stop by for food and drink in the state park’s Activity Building.
Pre-registration is now open for the event, and participants that register by October 21 will receive a long sleeve cotton running shirt. The cost to pre-register for the 15K is $30 and the 5K is $20. Registrations are also accepted the morning of the event, but the cost increases to $35 for the 15K and $25 for the 5K. Pre-registrants are asked to pick up their race packet and shirt at the Activity Building starting at 8:00 am. Late registrants will be given shirts while supplies last.
The top three male and female overall winners for each race will be recognized. All finishers will receive a unique finisher’s medal. To register for the Test the Watters trail race or learn more about the United Way of Harrison County, click here.
