The 26th year of the West Virginia Black Heritage Festival begins this weekend in downtown Clarksburg featuring food, entertainment, and fun for the entire family.

The festival gets started on Friday evening, Sept. 9, with a Youth Block Party at Jackson Square in Clarksburg from 6PM to 10PM. There will be free food, a DJ, games, and prizes.

The festival’s opening ceremony begins at 12PM on Saturday, Sept. 10, on the Courthouse Plaza on Main Street in downtown Clarksburg. A Health Fair and Screening event will also be available Saturday morning from 8AM until 12PM in front of City Hall.

Saturday afternoon is filled with great live entertainment starting at 2PM:

2PM – Dennis McClung Blues Band
3:15PM – Old School Band
4:30PM – Shades of Soul
6PM – Marcels
7:30PM – Luther Relives
9PM – Force MDs

Throughout the festival there will be black history trivia along with prizes. Food and vendors will be available at the festival as well.

Sunday, the final day of this year’s festival, begins at 11AM with a community church service, followed by a Gospel Explosion at 1PM. The festival will conclude with closing ceremonies at 6PM.
