Progress continues on the Robinson Grand Theater in downtown Clarksburg!

This week, interior core drilling and data collection is underway to determine if would be possible to add a basement under the theater. This would allow for new dressing rooms, restrooms for people with disabilities, and more.

Update on the Robinson Grand:

Core drilling has begun at The Robinson Grand Theater. Larson Design Group, out of Morgantown, WV along with Test Boring Services out of Washington, PA were performing core drilling today at 6 previously prepared locations. This will allow them to then do soil sampling for the new design of the interior.

Jane Hicks, Geotechnical Project Designer with Larson Design Group, stated, “At this particular stage, they are at a depth of 15’4 feet and are trying to go 20 feet if possible.” She also said it has been a very clean boring.
The City’s retained consultant, WYK Associates, Inc are preparing the design of the project as well as the preparation of the construction bidding documents.

Approximately 2 weeks ago, core drilling was performed at 2 exterior locations near Hewes Avenue.
