Jack Rollins is no stranger to the citizens of Harrison County. As a community, we have followed the journey of this resilient child. Despite being diagnosed with stage 4, high-risk neuroblastoma at the tender age of 2, Jack has exhibited strength and tenacity in the face of adversity, all the while wearing a smile that could light up the darkest room.
Jack is known for his love of Superheros and often wears his favorite costumes while undergoing his treatments. Like any true Superhero, when he isn’t busy battling his own nemesis Cancer, he is spending his time encouraging other children to keep up their fight. “Tough things make you stronger,” Jack has said.
This week, young Jack will reach a milestone we often take for granted, his fifth birthday. In honor of this extraordinary young man, the Harrison County Commission will be officially proclaiming Friday, February 5, Superhero Jack Rollins Day throughout Harrison County.
“While small in stature, this young gentleman is providing a giant example to all in how we should approach life,” said Commission President Ron Watson. “Jack Rollins is a true superhero.”
Since Jack and his family are currently in Michigan while he is undergoing treatment, a copy of this proclamation was sent to him on Monday.
“Jack’s determination to enjoy every moment demonstrates a wisdom beyond his soon to be five years,” said Commissioner Bernie Fazzini. “We could all learn from him.”
In declaring Jack Rollins Superhero Day, the Harrison County Commission invites the general public to join them in character costume at the Commission meeting on Thursday, February 4, at 11:00AM on the 3rd floor of the courthouse.
Citizens are also encouraged to dress in their favorite Superhero attire on the official Superhero Jack Rollins Day, February 5, 2016. The Clarksburg Visitor’s Bureau also asks that you join them at noon on Friday in front of the CVB offices, 321 West Main St., adjacent to the Court House, when they will be sending a special message to Jack. Cake and punch will be served.
If you would like to send Jack a birthday card or letters of encouragement, they can be sent to:
