This afternoon at 2PM, U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld II, along with Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker, Clarksburg Police Chief Robbie Hilliard, and Harrison Prosecutor Rachel Romano held a press conference regarding the major drug bust that took place this morning in Harrison County.

“Today’s arrests are the result of a coordinated effort of law enforcement partners, working together to help make Harrison County and the surrounding region safer for everyone,” said U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld.

In total, drug charges have been announced against 87 people. Forty of the 87 are facing federal charges, while forty-seven face state charges. A total of 50 people have been arrested today.

Fifty-four of the people facing drug-related charges are from Clarksburg. Clarksburg Police Chief Robbie Hilliard said, “I hope this sends a message to anyone selling drugs in the area.”

While drug trafficking is still a major problem in Harrison County, today’s operation absolutely puts a dent in it. “We have to reduce the demand from Harrison County. If we do that, guys from Detroit and Pittsburgh won’t want to come down here,” said Ihlenfeld.
