The West Virginia Black Bears have introduced a new alternate logo for 2017 with a design that showcase’s the team’s pride in their West Virginia home. The new logo, which will be worn on the batting practice hat during the 2017 season, features the popular Black Bears’ head inside the outline of the great state of West Virginia.
The logo was unveiled at the second annual WV Black Bears Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016. Helping with the reveal was Santa and his special helper from Eastwood Elementary, third grader Zadie Behnke.
The brand-new alternative logo has been designed to reflect both the state of West Virginia, and the Black Bears organization as a whole. “I am really excited about introducing our new alternative logo,” said West Virginia Black Bears General Manager Matt Drayer. “After two seasons, we wanted to have a logo that better represented our tie with the great state of West Virginia. We are proud that we are a part of the West Virginia community, and we now have a logo that showcases that pride,” Drayer went on to say.
The new alternative logo will replace the current bear paw alternative logo. Hats and t-shirts containing the new logo are available for purchase in store and online, with more products being introduced during the 2017 season.
